Questions about attending a Bartending School....?!

Question:

Questions about attending a Bartending School....?

I want details of the classes from people who have attended an actual bartending school. Do you really make 20-30 bucks an hour like the commerical says? Is it hard to remember how to mix drinks?

I would like only actual bartenders who've been to school reply please.

Answers:
I was a bartender for over ten years and never went to school, but worked with countless people that did. In my opinion, the only thing that bartending school teaches people is how to make a drink. That is only one component of bartending and there are many more things that one must know in order to be a successful bartender. If you really want to bartend, start out at a local place that is willing to train from within. On the job training is far more valuable than a classroom setting! Learning how to make drinks isn't that hard if you make them over and over again, which you will! Dealing with the guests and handling the pressure is the hard part of bartending. As far as the money goes, it depends on the type of bar you work and how good you are at working your clientele. You sure can make 20-30 an hour! Keep in mind, I'm not putting down bartending schools and those who go to them. I'm saying that I didn't and had a very successful career as a top bartender! Good luck!

I am not a bartender...but I do have a friend that is.

She works at a club Friday and Saturday nights. She gets paid a lot of money to do so too. When she doesn't work at the club she works at a restaurant but she doesn't get paid as much there as at the club.

We hassle her sometimes at work and order random drinks that we find on the Internet, but surprisingly 8 out of 10 times she knows what the drinks are.

I think you should do it!

Good luck!

You can make more then 20 - 39 bucks an hour, Depends if your in a busy high class bar and are working during the busy shift, But lets face it your out of bar school and get a job at a bar, They will give you the slowest shifts they can. So you'll be Lucky to go home with 30 bucks in tips.
