What should I not eat or drink in Mexico?
Answers:
don't drink the water, don't have ice in your drinks and don't eat any fresh fruit or veggie that you can't peel. (Bananas and oranges are okay, but strawberries aren't, for example). You probably will end up with a touch of Montezuma's Revenge anyway, bring some Imodium along, it works wonders!
Don't drink water, anything that's made with water or is watered to make it grow (lettuce, veg, fruit). Don't brush your teeth with their water. Get your own bottled water. Take some Imodium with you. And those precautions depend a lot on what part of Mexico you are going to.
An un-known substance you found on the ground
The water, because it isn't sanitary. Something in the water triggered my cousin to get Crohn's disease.
The water is bad for you.You will get sick. If you drink the water. I never heard about eating. I think eating is okay if it is cooked food. The cooking process kills the bacteria.
Thats a hard question...because I still sometimes forget that I cant eat or drink whatever, when I am there. The easiest things to drink are pre-packaged (bottled/canned) drinks. As far as food goes, I have no idea. It matter what part (city) you are going to. My brother swears by the lobster in Rosarito. Have fun good luck!
Eat u like but remember that the god see u not drink Wine it efeect to ur self That's all man
Water definately. Bottled Water is the only way to go. If you order drinks, make sure you tell them no ice as well.
Im sure everything is fine to eat, prolly get the runs or upset stomach, since you're bodys not used to too much of their food.
DON'T worry about anything in Mexico, it is a modern country with a lot of hard working good people living there....this question is a myth.....if you couldn't eat or drink in Mexico, then all the Mexicans would be sick or dead...........use common sense if a place is dirty don't eat there, otherwise enjoy... if you are still scared about water drink bottled water... it is the same as bottled water in the USA... pumped from a well treated and filtered just like the tap water..........have lots of fun down there, spend gobs of money....
I have a bit of advice about dinning in Mexico. When you get there you will notice that most places are set up with a what would be the town square if you plan to purchase at a restaurant then stick to the ones that are doing allot of business because the smaller ones tend to substitute their foods for what can be afforded on income that is less than stable. If you know what I mean.
I agree with Slammie, eat at the zocolo (town square) in each city you visit. Eat only cooked foods, don't get mixed drinks or soda with ice. Drink from the bottle only. Wine, beer, water, soda, and juices should all come directly from a bottle.
And do brush your teeth with bottled water. And try not to get water into your nose, mouth, eyes, during shower/bath.
Don't eat street vendor foods either or stuff from the open markets that is cooked while you watch. Go into a nice restaurant and eat well to stay well. Mexico is safer than India as to what you can bring back with you in your stomach. Mexico illness generally lasts a day or two. India illnesses can last your lifetime.
you shouldn't drink the water in mexico.....
Bottled Water Yes.
Ice, fruits and showers. Lets get real here. If this were true no one in Mexico would take showers. Yeah you shouldn't drink the tap water, but shower water getting in and around your mouth is harmless. As far as restaurants are concerned eat from the vendors eat from the crowded restaurants eat from the not so crowded restaurants. Believe me if they served contaminated food they would not be in business. Mexico's cuisine is vast, try new things don't be typical and order a Carne Asada Taco there are better and more int resting dishes available.
Don't forget that even in the US the major restaurants have gotten us sick. e.g Jack in the Box, Olive Garden, Spinach.
Taco's are made from dog meat and the water will give you crazy runs, Drink beer
Come on now people, Mexico is a highly civilzed country. Next to the US it is the largest consumer of bottled, purified water. There is a state agency in Baja Caliofrnia much like US health departments that monitors restaurants and food stands. Up market restaurants use purified ice, not to worry. Enjoy...eat, drink and be merry.
El agua. Unless its purified. Dont even use tap water to brush your teeth. As for eating, as long as they didnt rinse vegetables/fruits with tap water (most reputable restaurants dont), you should be ok. Oh....and cerviche. Lime DOES NOT cook shrimp, nor does it kill bacteria, or anything like that.....its raw shellfish and with all the problems in the Pacific with algae and whatnot, that would be dangerous.
As for what to eat/drink, every region of Mexico has amazing food and drink. Enjoy the experience.
