How to be a really great bartender?
so i started my first bartending job last thursday at a little dive bar... they only serve beer and wine and its a cool place. I was just wondering if anyone out there has any tips/advice for me, thanks a lot!!

skip bartending school! know your liquors! A bar is generally stocked in groups, like all your vodkas, tequilla, scotch, liquors, bourbon, whiskey, rum. The house stock is on the front rack and your premiums or on the shelf. Always try to upgrade your customer to a premium brand....good for business and potentially better tip. Know your clientel and never be afaid to say "I haven't made that drink in awhile, can you tell me what's in it?" And keep a handy bartender's guide!

Great girly drink:
Godiva white chocolate liquor, Absolute Vanilla vodka and chambourge, shake well in a martini shaker w/ a little ice, strain into chilled martini glass. BOTTOMS UP!
