How much wine does the average French or Italian really drink?


Answers:

A LOT. I was there for a while this year, and it is not uncommon for an Italian to drink 2 bottles (liters) a day - it's broken down like this...

1/2 bottle (3 glasses) - lunch

1 bottle - Dinner (which takes 3 hours, so that's understandable)

1/2 bottle - sundowners

Wow - it took me a while to adapt.

The key is to savor your wine and drink it slowly - it takes them MUCH longer to drink it than an American would - they don't really get that drunk even though they drink more.
