Absinthe is legal to privately posses, and privately consume in the US. So I assume you're speaking of legality of production and sale and the best reason to legalize production and sale is of course that it would be cheaper and honestly people should be able to do what they want in thier free time , even if it endangers them, so long as it does not endanger anyone else.
