How much does a typical wine tasting cost for a person?!

Question:

How much does a typical wine tasting cost for a person?

Answers:

In CA:

Sonoma: Free up to as much as $20 for a "reserve" tasting
Napa: Very few free, most at least $5 and up
Sierra Foothills: Most still free, some $5 or so, many allow a souvenir glass to be kept as part of the fee.

Most wineries will refund the fee with a purchase.

Addition: If you stick to smaller, more family run or intimate wineries, you have a better chance of having free tasting. Part of the fees (in my own opinion) are to ward off the masses of drinkers/partiers that mob into well known wineries and never buy anything. Also, if there is a fee and you are with someone you really like, you can just buy one tasting and split each taste with the person, or if there are limits (4 tastes per person, for example) you can buy two, but each try different wines and share. That way you get to taste 8 different wines, instead of both having the same 4.
