Inexpensive Champagne?!
Inexpensive Champagne?
I need some help please, not much of a drinker, but could anyone tell me what would be a good "inexpensive" (don't want to call it cheap) champagne I could purchase?
Am throwing a surprise birthday evening (this coming Friday, today being Monday) in a Hotel with a jacuzzi (with some Mr. Bubble, what fun eh??), roses, good eats and want to top it off with some bubbly, but can hardly afford, $300., $400, even $100 dollars a bottle, so what's out there for less?
Was doing some searching but its all "greek" to me, since I already mentioned am not a drinker.
Pluuuuuuuuuzzzzzzzzee HELP!!!! Thanks. :-))

I had this great champagne at my wedding reception at an extremely expensive hotel.. so I figured the champagne was going to be like $100 a bottle, I called the hotel and it's called J. Roget, you can buy it at any grocery store like wal-mart, kroger, or giant eagle, the best part is its only $4.50 a bottle lol my whole family was like shocked, didnt know cheap champagne could possibly taste that damn good
Spanish Cava (freixenet, for example) are made in the same way as real French Champagne, but are very inexpensive (some inder $10). Some of the Napa versions of French Champagnes (Mumm, Chandon) don't stink, either, and are genreally under $30.
You can get a good bottle of Asti Spumante for about $10-$20 depending on the size and brand.
There's Martini and Rossi, Villa Rosa, Tosti, lots and lots, but they are all pretty much the same.
Sparkly, yet tasty! I have used for romantic evenings with my husband, dinner parties, and holidays.
Here's a site that gives some prices and brands...good luck!

Its not a Champagne but believe me it will fool all your guests , because it taste like Champagne and even looks like it ., and it doesn't have the price tag that will leave penniless . Its Henkel Trocken its a bubbly white wine and produce in Germany and very good !!!!!!!.
Korbel Brut is always a good chose, Around 10 dollars a bottle, Enjoy the party!!!!
I was at one time the night manager of a liquer store..if you get it from a liquer store they usually will give you a break on a large amount but two good brands that dont taste cheap and are very inexpensive are mumms and korbel...also spumante...serve a big bowl of different kinds of berries that inhance the flavor of the champagne...hope it helps
Schramsberg Blanc de Noir is great, this will cost around $25.00 per bottle. Another suggestion is to ask your local wine store what they suggest in your price range, Procecco is an Italian one that is light and crisp, but not too sweet. This should run around $10.00.
real champagne you probably wont find for less than $35 a bottle. pierre gimonet, lilbert and gaston chiquet would be a few of my favorite. all within the quoted prie range. there is no substitiute for real champagne. cava and prosecco are generally made from high yield grapes, and in my experience lack flavor. california sparkling doesn't have the finesse
Shell out $40-50 for Moet & Chandon 'Nectar Imperial'. It's a Demi sec so it's a good choice for someone who doesn't drink Champagne often. Also I agree with the person who suggested Schramsberg.
Veuve Cliquot - it has a bright orange label. It's about $35 per bottle and well worth the price.
