Question:

Today I was told I am Diabetec. Does Guinness really help as I overheard.?

Answers:
Don't drink Guinness. Your pancreas produces insulin, and it's not producing enough. Alcohol can impair the pancreas (as well as several other organs). Just hold off until you get the full story. You'll be getting a meter, which will give you a much better picture of how bad your diabetes is. And you'll be referred to a nutritionist, who will tell you what to eat and drink.

Don't panic. It's not the end of the world. I was diagnosed Type 2 10 years ago. Today, I tested 91 some 2 hours after a meal. And I don't totally abstain from alcohol.

Diabetes can really mess you up if you dont take care of yourself. Take no advice other than a true doctors.

Consuming alcohol is not advised if you are a diabetic, you need to talk to your doctor and follow the instructions he/she gives you very strictly.

Cast aside those pagan beverages!! Embrace God and revel in his Holy blood!!! Drink wine!!

God will rid you of all illness once you bend before His Massive Might!

My bother in law who is type 2 diabetec swear that eating cactus helps him. I though it was an old wife's tale until I saw it in a medical book. Cinnamon helps. MY friend who is type 1 diabetec takes 2- 500mg capsules a day. He still has to take his insulin but since he started teh cinnamon daily he now takes less insulin

Alcohol does lower blood sugar. But not in a way that is controlable. It also depends on your indavidual state of health Talk to your diatition or doctor. If you do drink stick to spirits and diet mixers and ALWAYS have something to eat before and after drinking alcohol

No, don't drink beer for your diabetes. Beer is full of carbohydrates that if will turn into sugar if you don't burn them off. I am no doctor, but I don't diagnose beer as the remedy here. Sorry.

What drunken Irishman gave you this advice? (I'm Irish - I can imagine men I know doling out this kind of advice - kind of like the one where a shot of whiskey is supposed to cure everything from the common cold to chicken pox)

i dunno but you should avoid sweet wines liqueurs and low sugar beers and lagers and drink in moderation
