New and yummy mixed drink?!
New and yummy mixed drink?
I'm looking for something new to drink at a bar. Something that most places would have. I'm kinda bored with what I've been drinking lately. Beer is good. Hard alcohol is good. I usually get Bloody Marys, Vodka/Redbulls, or just beer. Any suggestions?? (I'm not into any frozen/fruity drinks). Thanks!!
Answers:
well, sounds like you like vodka drinks, and like me, I don't do foofoo drinks. hate all the sugar. all that sugar makes you drunk. although i do like the occasional tasty drink, not necessarily "fruity" w/ all the mixings.
anyway, this is what i do to change it up ...
vodka cran w/ lime twist
vodka tonic w/ lime twist
vodka soda w/ lemon twist (like drinking water!)
vodka w/ YELLOW lemonade
vanilla vodka w/ coke
vanilla vodka w/ sprite
vanilla vodka w/ gingerale (like having a cream soda)
cosmo
dirty vodkatini
vodka w/ orange juice, pineapple juice & gingerale (tropical)
lemon drop shots (like you do tequila shots, but w/ vodka - instead of tequila, sugar - instead of salt & lemon - instead of lime ... tastes like water!)
captain & coke (classic)
malibu & coke is good too, or w/ orange or pineapple juice
mojito (cuban rum mixed drink - totally refreshing & fab!)
gold or silver rum w/ YELLOW lemonade
jack daniels & coke or jack & lemonade is great for summer
budweiser select
amstel light
becks light
blue moon (good & refreshing, but full bodied heff)
makers mark (whiskey) w/ an amstel light
i know there's more, but i cant think of them now ... i'll be back to add to the list. ;) enjoy!
mojitos rock
Mojito
This is what you need...
Fresh mint leaves
Bitters
Limes, quartered
Ice
White/light rum
Guarapo (sugar cane juice)
Club Soda
This is what you do...
Muddle 5-6 mint leaves, 3 drops bitters, and 3 lime quarters in the bottom of a tall glass.
Fill the glass to the top with ice.
Add 2 ounces light rum.
Fill the remainder of glass with guarapo, leaving ?" at top of glass. Top off with club soda.
Cover the glass and shake vigorously for 4-5 seconds. Serve with straw. Garnish with lime wedge and sugarcane stick.
Southern Comfort & Sprite
This is a great question becaue I have the same problem. I get burnt out on Screwdrivers, Vodka Cranberry, and Vodka Redbull all the time!
Ever try a Mojito? Yeah, they're kind of pretentious I guess, but they're so good. Not too fruity and perfect for summer. It's rum, lime, soda, and a little mint. So good.
Rum and coke is always good too.
And sometimes wine can be the perfect change, but too much will make you tired, and if it's red---well, you'll get "wine teeth" which is not pretty...(Imagine your mouth when you eat a blue popsicle...except, your mouth is stained dark purple-red...ew).
That's all I can think of...but I'm excited to see what others have to say! I need a new drink too!!!
:)
In addition to mixed drinks, there is a huge variety of wines. Try asking your bartender if he has any that are new or interesting. Most bartenders are also enthusistic in suggesting new choices as long as the place isn't hopping and there is time. Have you tried a coconut rum? a Tom Collins? a Vodka Martini? A Manhattan? A good single-malt taken neat?
Do remember to limit your consumption to less than one per hour if you are planning to drive home.
Whiskey Sour, White Russian, Blow J*B Shots, Zombies, and I love Hot Chocolotas with malibu and Hot Chocolate, but wrong time of the year.
you can try certain cold drinks for a change. like sprite, pepsi, etc.
Order a Red Headed SSlut. Sounds terrible. Tastes delicious. It comes as a shot or on the rocks.
Yellow Cake:
Vanilla vodka & pineapple juice
I hate pineapples, but this drink is killer. Try it once and I PROMISE you'll be hooked.
Smirnoff vanilla vodka's the best one to use: it's sweeter than Absolut.
mix seven drinks and enjoy all the best.
Kamikaze , 1 jigger vodka, i jigger triple sec, splash of reallime
ever tried captain and mt dew?
Try an Amaretto Stone Sour=]
Not too fruity.
Sweet and sour mix
Amaretto (almond) liqueur
Orange Juice.
I like it Stirred not shaken.
I also like Vodka, Mango Rum and Crandberry juice=]
Crown and Coke...yummy!
I find Apple Martinis tasty, but not too fruity as long as they're made right. Try this:
1.5 part Vodka (Use a good one)
1 part Apple Pucker
Splash of Sprite
Pour 'em over ice in a shaker then into a chilled Martini glass. Don't use the apple flavored sugar for the rim, too sweet. If you want it to look fancy use an apple slice or a corkscrew twist of apple peel.
It's called a Fuzzy Pirate:
Shot of Captian Morgan
Cranberry Juice
top it off with a splash of Peach Schnapp's.
