How long can wine stay good for after its been opened???!

Question:

How long can wine stay good for after its been opened???

the particular wine is a Moscato di' Asti, a desert wine, and my friend swares she kept it in the refrigerator for months and ive heard it will only stay good for 3 days.... i dont know... but if you do, let me know...

Answers:
Well firstly, Moscato d'Asti is a semi-sparkling wine so it needs special care.

Once opened, Champagne and sparkling wines may be stored for a few days in the refrigerator with the help of a handy Champagne stopper, which helps to keep the wine from oxidizing too rapidly.

Hope I helped, good luck!

The more the sugar content, the longer it keeps.

you should drink it definitely w/in the first couple of days. three days is the MAX! sure, you can keep it longer, and still drink it, but eww, not so tasty. the more air it gets, the less tasty it is.

other wines, especially red wines, because they shouldn't be refrigerated, should be drank the same day, the next day at the latest. some whites, you can keep two to three days, max!

im not sure about months but a month maybe if it is air tight i bought this thing (not sure what its called) but it does something that seals it shut so it stays good longer

Why would you not finish a bottle of wine? Drink it already!

Actually the sugar in the wine speeds the rate of oxidation, so if anything sweet/dessert wines need to be drunk more quickly than others.

Other wines should really be drunk within a day of opening (if you opened it yesterday, finish it today). The different gizmos and gasses that are marketed to preserve wine longer are really not that effective - they "might" buy you another day. Once wine is exposed to air it starts to oxidize like a cut apple...
