Please explain this sentence . . . Candy is dandy but liquor is quicker?!

Question:

Please explain this sentence . . . Candy is dandy but liquor is quicker?

Answers:

This "sentence" is in fact a poem by the American poet, Ogden Nash (1902 - 1971)

Titled: "Reflections on Ice-Breaking"

Candy
Is dandy
But liquor
Is quicker.

As with most poetry it can mean different things to different people. To me it means that if alcohol or candy may be used to achieve an end, alcohol will do it faster.
