What can I use instead of Chambord?!

Question:

What can I use instead of Chambord?

Making a martini which calls for Chambord. I cant find that. Is there anything similar, more common, that I can use instead?

The recipe tells me to pour it over a spoon so oit floats on the top of the drink, so whatever I use has to be able to do that

Answers:

Blackberry brandy is not a true substitute for Chambord. The taste would be too harsh. (Neither is grape juice--what "bartender" wrote that? I hope I never work with him.)
Try Black Raspberry Liqueur--it will be in the schnapps aisle--near cinnamon schnapps, peppermint schnapps, peach schnapps, etc. Look for brand names like Arrow or Bols. They should carry it.

However, I'm a little surprised you couldn't find Chambord. It's a pretty common liqueur, albeit twice as expensive as generic Black Raspberry liqueur. It comes in a orb-shaped bottle, with a little crown on its cap. Did you ask the salesperson at the liquor store?
