Absinth and blindness?!

Question:

Absinth and blindness?

I just read something about absinth and it hinted about it causing blindness or sight damage, can it cause blindess or damage to the eyes from just having a few drinks a week maybe?

Hey abebrundle,
absynth and blindness - you get blind from Methanol ( CH3-OH) So long you buy legally produced absynth in EU you will not get blind. The pharmaceutic stuff in absynth is THC ( the same as in your joint). The THC concentration in European legally sold absynth is so low, that you will die because of alcohol before you have any effect of THC.
I have been told that Pernod is producing an absynth with higher concentrations, but it is illegal to sell it in EU and it is illegal to sell it in US. Where they do sell it I don't know. for in muslim countries they can't sell it because of the alcohol.
If you want to save a lot of money drink a sage tea (salvia officinalis). It has more THC than legally sold absynth in europe. Ok it will not make you high but it is good against parodontose and influenca.
And why we should buy illegal produced absynth if it is much more cheaper and easier to buy a joint?

ps: absynth in Europe --- that is a myth.

No, the bad press that absinthe got was because of the worm wood that it contains. The amount of thujone (the bad stuff in worm wood) in absinthe is not enough to cause health problems.

Alcohol is a central nervous system depressant, slurred speech, loss of self control and blackouts are symptoms of excess consumption. problem drinkers can develop serious brain damage. Not sure about blindness, halucinations yes, but thats due to the neuro-toxins in absinthe.

no the only way it can cause blindness is if you drink it through your eyeballs like 'eyeball paul' does in kev and perry go large lol.

Not any more than any other alcoholic beverage.
