What is a good wine, for under $150 dollars?!

Question:

What is a good wine, for under $150 dollars?

I like chardonay, cabernet, and a nice white wine

Answers:
If your looking for an incredible bottle of chardonnay try louis latour "Corton-Charlegmane" from a good vintage, 96, 02 04, 05. Joseph Drouhin also makes a good bottle from the same vineyard. there are other producers that make wine from the same vineyard, but prices go up. what i like about this wine and vineyard is the concentration, its huge, full of flavor but has great acidity, minerality and a nice use of oak. Rumor has it that the emperor chrlegmane himself planted the vineyard.
I believe Kongsgaard is also within the price range. good california chardonnay
Cabernet- try looking for some wines out of Margaret River, Australia. They are often well priced and have a lot more complexity than wines out of napa. Napa is one of those areas where the wines are priced high because they say napa (similiar to bordeaux). for domestic try quilceda creek, or woodward canyon, Washington is making some killer wine right now.
Or you could try some Cote-Rotie, like Rene Rostaing's La Landonne 2003. 100% Syrah from a single, highly sought after vineyard. 2003 was a really warm year with tiny yields in the Rhone, France (where cote-rotie is from), which resulted in massive concentrated wines. I think Syrah is more interesting than cabernet personally
You dont have to spend $150, but if you have it to spend, these wines are all going to be a hell of alot better than any bottle under $75. I know, I try alot of wine for a living. The best wine is expensive

Oh my gosh, $150 is incredibly insane for wine. Unless you're a very committed wine collector - or very wealthy - you'd never pay that mich for wine!

I would have asked what a good wine is under $20... there's a lot in that range!

Personally, I like sauvignon blanc in the $12 range. But then, I also don't like chardonnay.

Thunderbird or Night train

Wow!! high priced stuff. Buy a bunch of Mad Dog 20-20 & every one can get loaded.

I go to wine tasting once a month. The best white wine I have ever tasted is a Reisling made by Chateau Ste. Michelle. It is in a green bottle. I hope you can find it where you live, because it is soooo good and sooooo smooth. And it doesn't cost too much. About $10-$15 per bottle. You do not have to spend a lot of money to find good wine. It is just a myth that you do. I have visited with many many vendors at the wine tasting that I go to and they all have told me that price does not tell you the quality of wine. So, good luck finding this wine and I strongly suggest you get a bottle. Enjoy!!!

If you meant under $15 a bottle...
my favorite chardonnay is made by Covey Run winery in Washington state.

spending $150 on wine is not necessary to get a good bottle, and, unless it is for a very special occasion, i wouldn't spend near that much. for an every day wine, Chateau St. Michelle Reisling is wonderful, it's light, crisp, and a little fruity, but not too much. If you can get your hands on Tolosa Chardonnay, it is wonderful, both the oak, which is buttery, and the no oak, which is crisp and clean. fat bastard has a good Chard as well. Rose (pronounced rose-a) of Syrah is good, i like the one tolosa makes but it is not easy to find, it's the color of White Zin but is a more tart wine and has more flavor. the best thing to do is find a good wine store and talk to a sales person. they should be able to give you a few great suggestions. once you find one you enjoy, you can usually find them online for cheaper than in your local store. www.winelibrary.com is wonderful and has great deals. they give good descriptions, explain the differences, it's easy to navigate and it is good no matter if your a beginning wino or a full fledged wine critic. good luck

I'm guessing you don't have a place to store it properly, so here are some drink now vintages to look for at your local premium wine shop: 1997 California Cabernet, 1996 White Burgundy (Chardonnay), 1989 or 1990 Bordeaux (Cabernet), and give Rhone (Syrah/Grenache) wines a chance--1998 vintage.

For that price, you can get some serious wine. Make it clear to the wine shop owner that you are looking for a life-changing bottle.
