Can I make a wheat beer without the mash process?
I would like to start brewing a wheat beer this weekend, but all the recipes I've seen require mashing. I am having a lot of trouble finding some of the required ingredients (not to mention the mash tun), and so I was wondering if anybody can tell me - is there an alternative way?
Answers:
Yes. Go to your local homebrew store and pick up some wheat extract (syrup or dry). It'll be around 50-60% wheat and the rest barley (this is normal as you need barley to mash the wheat). Get a book or read up on hombrewing and spend $50 or so on the basic supplies needed (plus a brew pot). Check the links below to get started. Just start out brewing from extracts and you don't need to mash; or once you start gettting into it you can do partial mashes.

A mash tun is easily made from a cool box. It holds enough malt for most recipe. All mashing is to keep the liqueur at the required temp. for 90min. usually 65c. To make the tun better, drill an hole in the bottom towards one end . to fit a 15mm. tank connector plus a valve. To act as a drain. Cover the inside entrance with a stainless tea strainer. Sparging by taking the lid off and pour water over from a kettle. It works fine, and the results are far better than any kit brews.
