Margaritas at home?!

Question:

Margaritas at home?

Is there any way that we can buy the salt puncher that the restaurants use to rim the glass with salt for the margaritas? Also, is the margarita machine that's out for 299.00 a good buy? Thanks.

Answers:
For the salt rimmer try a restaurant supply store. Many have them for around 4-6 bucks.
As for the machine-Hell No. A blender works just fine.
Here is a good recipe. Use half a can of limeaid frozen concentrate. 3 shots of good tequila, 1 1/2 shots of Triple sec and a 12 ounce beer. Put all in a blender and fill with Ice. Blend to a wonderful froth and enjoy. Beware they are potent and you cannot taste the alcohol. Yummy.

No...the salt puncher can only be bought for and used by bartenders who have attended at least three weeks of training in the proper use of the tool. ;-)

I wouldn't waste money on an expensive margarita machine. Blenders are much cheaper, and work just as well.

Use most stores should have it if you cant find some try a Liquor store(not one street corners but a commercial one).
Margarita machine for $299.99, that's way to much, usually the best margaritas are done by scratch. Try seeing how they make your maragarita next time you go to a restaurant, it's very easy, it's even better on the rocks if you want to taste your liquor. Another key ingredient to great margarita's is all in the type of tequilla you have with it. Patron is the best you can have.

pour water and roses' lime on a plate and dip the rim of the glass, then dip onto a plate of coarse sea salt.
As to the margarita machine...it is a joke. Use a blender, high speed at first then reduce to low speed and let it do its job; if you have the right combo of liquid and ice it will work perfectly, and no machine will correct it if you don't.
The Margarita...
3 types of tequilla:
BLANCO - light and unaged *perfect for shots
REPOSADO - aged about 18 months to 3 years in oak *perfect for mixing (MARGARITAS)
ANEJO - antiqued in oak *like fine scotch and Cognac should be sipped by civilised people.
Use grand marinier for dark tequilas and cointreau for light tequilas and if you don't use fresh lime juice throw it all away!

Margarita Machine?
I don't recommend you to buy a margarita machine unless you are going to use it a lot. My recommendation is to buy a commercial blender. You can use it to make margaritas, daiquiris, pi?a coladas and much more.

I personally like to drink margaritas on the rocks. They taste better than the frozen margaritas.

You can buy a salt rimmer if you like but I don't recommend it unless you work at a bar the makes a lot of margaritas. Buy kosher salt from the store and use a lime wedge to wet the rim of the glass then dip the glass in the salt.
