Why is there so much snobbery when it comes to food and wine?
why are some places so damn snobby they like to think they are so elitist
most food is prob been bought from a freezer store

Answers:
well, you should consider the other fields where snobbery enters:
classical music, including the opera
theater
universities
neighborhoods ..
clothes
jewelry
speaking voices
manners
cruise ships
vacation spots
Its another method of separating themselves from the unwashed masses.
This is for the philistine middle classes to distance themselves from the lower orders, they don't fool me!
Small minded nobodies trying to impress.
Not sure about the msg, that's waaay out of fashion! Yeah I agree with you, any snob is a fool & don't fall for the food bit. Cook it yourself. Impress your gf by cooking for her!
As to the wine, if there's been such a lot of bollocks written on any other subject I've yet to see it!
Call them wineprats as I do. If enough of us suss 'em out perhaps they'll fcuk off & do something useful....
Power, or at least the perception of power. Now this is something that I deal with every day and that I have seen for a lot of my life being born and raised in Napa Valley. I have been working in various tasting rooms for two years now and it is still amazing to see the people who come in to a winery and the terms and so-called knowledge they throw around. First of all, LET IT GO!!! You are not expected to know the ins and outs of the whole wine and food industry if you have lived in Wyoming, Vermont, Zimbabwe, or Mars. There are three types of people I see who come to taste wine.
1) Those out for a leisurly time hoping to absorb the ambience, relax with a nice bottle of wine, and go home as if this were the kind of weekend you had. They could also care less what Malolactic Fermentation is. (50% of guests.)
2) Then there are those who either know a good amount because they are in the industry or they at least hope to learn more. These people are kind, often humble, and can carry an intelligent conversation without exuding snobbery. (30% of guests)
3) Finally, there are those people who ruin the joy of food & wine connessuirship because they, by the use of their wine lingo and character flaws, try to be the Macho Wino. Don't Do that! I repeat, don't do that. There is always going to be someone that knows more than you about a subject. It is natural, accept it and move on. You do not need to make those who are just up for a good time feel like they are unworthy. Hitler did that and look what happened to that asshole.
It is always the ones that know the most about a subject who will be the ones that talk the least about it. This is do to the fact that they have the knowledge and need to prove that to no one. Those who don't have the knowledge are most willing to show that they do. (sorry that is the philosopher in me, but it is true.)
Wine has been a staple of the aristocracy before the U.S. was even in existence. This is nothing new.
Great wine with a good meal is a way to make yourself king/queen/princess for a few hours. People serve you stuff that looks nice, tastes good, feels good in an environment that is comfortable and pleasing. I don't see any reason to get bitter over it.
Also, some people like that kind of stuff more than others. There are lots of rich people who are simple pleasure people. I don't understand why you would harbor so much hate for those who like the finer things over those who like simple things. It's just a preference.
A) Because there are a lot of Papa Johns in the world who want to sell us crap.
B) Because it helps as a justification for alcoholism that is in a state of denial.
