How do you cut a cigar and at which end?!

Question:

How do you cut a cigar and at which end?

Answers:

The closed end of the cigar is the end that you cut. There are several different types of cutters. The most popular, and the cut that I usually use, is the straight cut. There are single and double bladed straight cutters. The double bladed cutter is better because single blade cutters tend to tear the side of the cigar away from the blade. When you cut the cigar, you want to take off just the end of the piece of the wrapper leaf covering the end, called the cap. If you cut on the curved "shoulders" of the cigar, you can cause the cigar to come apart.
Another option is the punch cut, which cuts a circle out of the end of the cigar. I prefer a punch cut if I am going to be doing something with my hands, such as fishing or golfing, while smoking the cigar. It holds together better if you are holding the cigar with your teeth because it only cuts the middle out of the cap and doesn't compromise the structural integrity of the cigar.
A third option is the V-cut. The cutter is shaped similarly to a straight cutter, but the blade is shaped like a v. The v cut is not especially popular, but some people swear by it.
If you do not have a cutter, a razor blade can be used. Hold it against the side of the cap and twist the cigar. It is not the best option, but it works better than a dull cutter.
