Where can I get cask strength whisky?!

Question:

Where can I get cask strength whisky?

I'm a big fan of good old fashioned cask strength (non-chill filtered) whisky such as the Glenlivet 16 year old I picked up on a trip to Scotland. The problem is that it seems these cask strength editions are available only from the distilleries themselves. Is there anywhere else I can get myself another bottle without travelling all the way up to Speyside?

Answers:
Are you based in the UK? If so, your best bet is probably to contact the distillery direct. The Glenlivet cask strength edition, amongst others, is available at the distillery's website at http://www.maltwhiskydistilleries.com...

Direct link to Glenlivet page:

Or, next time you're up in Scotland just stock up!

West Virginia where it is called White Lightning.

Depending on what state you are in, I can ship you bottles of cask strength scotches. At my store, we have at least 20 different cask strength scotches available.

Give me a shout.

DEPENDING ON BOTH STATE AND FEDERAL LAWS FOR YOUR DOMICILE, IT MAY/MAY NOT BE POSSIBLE .
However, I'd suggest you contact the administrative offices of your State Store; Liquor Distributor, or Speyside directly, who would be familiar with governing laws for the US and your locale.
It is possible a non-State Store Distributor may simply order it for you. Somewhere in this mess the ATF and your State Store Rules have established, you may find a way to acquire the liquor you have in mind.
Good Luck!

Not sure of the proper name but there is a Whisky Club in the UK. As a member you get newsletters and offers of a variety of scotch, much of it cask strength. I remember an old colleague at work was a member. Try the net.

Join the Scotch Malt Whisky Society - I don't know if you are in the UK or abroad, but they ship in the UK and have a number of overseas branches, which you can link to via their web site. (click on join, and then overseas membership for details) They also have society rooms in Edinburgh, Leith and London and do tastings around the UK. All their whiskies are cask strength.

Their web site is www.smws.co.uk

I believe that Oddbins also sells some cask strength whiskies so is worth a try.

Casks do not add to the strength of a whiskey.
