Did you know in the UK the legal drinking age is 5 years old?!

Question:

Did you know in the UK the legal drinking age is 5 years old?

of course lots of restrictions, only at home, I think they have to be 16 till they can order beer or wine with a meal, was just surprised, although did give a sip of champagne to my son at xmas (he is seven) and he hates it but then he only drinks water, but you see a lot of kids having sips of dad or mums beer in the UK at the pubs. In europe it happens as well with kids having very watered down wine with there meals

Question is do you think this leads to the binge drinking in UK and why not europe.

Answers:

i have met english people who give their children alcohol frequently, either seriously or as a joke. i think the bigger problem is drinking a lot, regularly in front of them.
