Who rates Budweiser?!

Question:

Who rates Budweiser?

Posers tend to slug it from the bottle...though I reckon its a pretty good lager, if somewhat sweet, and I usually drink it if I find somewhere that has it on draft.
What do you reckon? King of beers or fizzy dish water?

Answers:
As a craft-brew drinker, I think Budweiser is a passable lager. Anheusser-Busch can be credited for marketing and for the CONSISTENCY of their product. For a lager, Budweiser has excellent body, a good head, strong carbonation without being overly so. The mouth-feel is right on. However, I think there are a lot more satisfying beers on the market for a buck a throw as far as taste, and I personally find Budweiser to have an unpleasantly strong aftertaste. Something along the lines of Pilsner Urquell, Becks or even (overrated) Heineken is much cleaner on the palate and more satisfying, and that's just looking at other bottom-fermented products. Of course as a hopshead what I really like is hoppsy ales (IPA's and the like). Good American beer is out there being produced by mom-and-pop breweries. We American's really need to educate ourselves as to what a good beer is- the only reason Anheusser-Busch and Miller dominated the market for years as they have is that in the US we lost our sense of diversity in brew during Prohibition and are only beginning to get it back.

I was raised in St. Louis, it's mother's milk to me.

you must not be from america? everywhere has bud on tap over here but if you ask me they can keep thier rice water---if i am going to drink regular beer its gotta be coors in the gold bottle but when i want a good cheap beer i will pick up michelob amber bock and if i want a good beer ill grab a newcastle or a guiness when i wanna get bloated haaahaaa

It tastes like dish water, but that doesn't stop me from drinking it. It's not the king of beers, but it'll do in a pinch.

Incidentally, on the Warsteiner label it says "Die Konigen unter Den Bieren," which roughly translates into "The King of Beers." And it does taste suspiciously like Budweiser, if you ask me...

not the king of beers by far. coors light all the way

When I go to the bar over yonder and their running a special on bud I drink it after about 8 beers I can't tell one from another.

truely the king of beers it's sweet taste is amazing

Its probably the same people who say that Miller Lite regularly wins the World Beer Cup.....in a pinch, I'll drink Bud. But I'd rather not.

No. Not the king of Beers.

I'm a homebrewer and while visiting my local supply shop last night I found out something very interesting about Bud and it's kindred beers. They can be very diffacult to make because the design of the beer is so simple you don't have any room for error. The average homebrewer could never reach that level of consistancy brewing that type of beer.

That being said, I have never been a fan of Bud and all the light beers, though they are refreshing on a hot day the quality is lacking in my opinion.

But hey that's why I brew my own.
