Fellow whiskey lovers: What is your favorite type of whiskey? The brand that you buy and how do you like it?

I have tried blended and single malt scotch, Irish whiskey, Canadian rye, bourbon and Tennessee whiskey... of these I have a preference for bourbon, and my favorite brand at the moment is Maker's Mark... I originally had it on the rocks, but have recently just drank it straight with a splash of branch water. How do you like your whiskey and why do you think it is enjoyed best that way?

One last thing: Has anyone ever tried Japaneses scotch? I'm curious to try it...

Thanks for your input.

Answers:

One of my favorites atm is the Aberlour a'bunadh, a single malt scotch whisky at cask strength at around 120 proof, I drink it neat and no extra spring water. Smooth!

Yes I've tried Japanese whisky, Hanyu, Yoichi & Yamazaki. Brought home a few bottles of Japanese whisky from Tokyo several months ago.
