How come mixing alcoholic beverages gets you much drunker?!

Question:

How come mixing alcoholic beverages gets you much drunker?

well, from experience i know that when you drink you should go from drinks with less alc % (beer, wine) to drinks with more alc % (vodka taquila...) and that if you do it vice versa or mix, then you get much more drunker, and more possibly get sick, and have a worse hangover. so i was wondering why that happens?

thanks in advance, avia.

Answers:

Everything you just said is a myth. A 12oz bottle of beer, 8oz glass of wine and a 4oz shot/mixed drink all contain the same amount of alcohol. The only reason you would be getting drunk faster by moving is because people tend to drink mixed drinks much faster, not giving the alcohol enough time to hit them before getting the next.

Mixing them is actually fine. Drinking them in any order is actually fine. If you want to prevent yourself from getting sick in the morning do the following.

1. Drink lots of water. Either during the evening or before you go to bed.

2. Take to Advil and a LARGE glass of water before bed.

3. Moderation. If you get so drunk you can't stand or you have trouble remembering what you did.... There is no stopping the hangover. Drink until enlightenment and maintain, don't over do it. It just gives the rest of us a bad name.
