Asda only serve cigarettes to over 18's when will this be policy elsewhere?!

Question:

Asda only serve cigarettes to over 18's when will this be policy elsewhere?

Answers:
The government are currently raising the age from 16 to 18, it will soon become a criminal offence to sell to under 18's.

hopefully in the not to distant future .

That's a good idea...but I don't know how long it will be until other places follow the same policy.

Good for Asda! I am aware that to buy alcohol in supermarkets you need to look 21 or even 25, so ciggies should really follow suit. I suggest that ciggies should only be sold to people with a note from their doctor confirming their awareness that it is probably going to kill them.

Don't know where you live but none of the shops near me sell cigarettes to under 18s.

You have to be over 21 to buy ciggies in Tesco

Why not? I don't think encouraging 15 years old to fund tobacco merchants is a good thing. Of course they're just gonna get some adult to buy them for them.

Most of the shops around here are 18 plus for tobacco and 21 plus for alcohol.

Should be 21 for both!

It's being put through parliament this summer

its the policy everywhere.you have to be 18 to buy cigs or drink

Never, of you worked out how much tax they make on 16-18 year olds buying cigarettes I'm sure it would add up to such an amount that they couldn't afford to do it. Someone work out how much money that is please!
