I can buy wormwood in a whole foods store in the US. You can actually smoke wormwood in a pipe but there is not a noticible high.

The active ingredient is wormwood. It s illegal in most European country apart Czechoslovakia where most of it is made. Its legal in Australia too.
Absinth has a strong bitter taste, that's why you are meant to 'flame' a sugar cube so it melt in it... Then you may want to add some water...
Absinth is why Van Gogh cut his ear off!! Good luck...
When Absinth was made illegal in France They created Pernod as a substitute...
it's very strong and good- can sometimes be ordered through the mail from canada but i believe that you can NOT get it from europe- is legal to buy because you have to activate the hallucinogenic qualities- just taking a shot of processed absinthe will not produce a trip or a high. the product that is available for retail is just a high alcohol liquor
