You should take it back to the place you got it at.
Most of them have some kind of identification if you don't know where it came from.
The 5 gallon ones are worth like $5.
There is a deposit on them when you get the first one with water in it and if you bring in an empty one you only pay for the water, not the $5 jug fee.
