Absinthe in Canada?!
Absinthe in Canada?
Going to Niagara Falls tomorrow. I would like to try Absinthe while visiting since it is illegal to bring back into the US. My web searches haven't turned up any bars in that area where I can get a fix. Anyone out there from that area could advise me?
Answers: Contrary to popular belief you can get absinthe in Canada but unfortunately the active ingredient that people want (the hallucinogen wormwood) is not part of it. It can still get you drunk but will not give you the high that the Absinthe from Europe will.
Hope this helps I didn't think you could get Absinthe in Canada.....thought it was only available in Europe, esp. England. Maybe that's why your search isn't turning anything up. I don't know where you can get it in niagra falls, but do know that if you try it have a glass of water ready. It will burn your throat so bad. Make sure you get blue absithe, because it tastes like aniseed. It's alchohol content is 80% plus so be careful.
