I am brewing beer at home,?

I just transfered to my first primary, do I have to keep that at a certain temperatur until I transfer to my secondary? I know once I bottle it says to keep between 70 and 75 degrees.


Answers: During primary ferment, 70+ is fine as long as it's not 100. Just don't let it get any cooler of fermentation could cease. I'm working on an article for beer making if you are interested. I'll post it here in a week or so.

Good luck. depends on the type of yeast being used, but most ale yeast like temperatures between 68-74 degrees. keep it away from the window, and dont let it get too cold. if you must, keep it on the warmer side of the temp. range. good luck! The best temperature depends on what strain of yeast you're using. Ale yeasts prefer warmer temperatures, pilsener yeasts prefer cooler temperatures. The main consideration is not to allow the temperature to fluctuate too much or become too cold because that can shock the yeast and cause the fermentation to stall. Another general guideline is that the warmer you keep the wort, the faster the fermentation wil occur, but cooler temperatures cause the yeast to produce less acidic tasting byproducts and creates a smoother beer.
