Does a lite beer( Miller Lite) have less alcohol than regular beer like bud.?!

Question:

Does a lite beer( Miller Lite) have less alcohol than regular beer like bud.?

a friend thinks because they drink a lite beer they can drink more because the alcohol content is less.

Answers:
no, it just means that there are less carbs and calories, the alchol content does not change, that is in part of the brewing process that takes place durring fermentaion. I am a home brewer, and if I want a higher alchol content I add more molassas or suger to the mix, etc. so the words light beer does not mean less alchol...

A light beer just means that it has less calories.

no just less calories

from what I've heard light beers have been, I guess what you call watered down. So its less calories, carbs, and probably alcohol.

Miller Lite is Great and does not have less alcohol in it. In fact light beer doesn't mean less alcohol, it just means less calories.

yes. it DEFINANTLY HAS LESS ALCOHOL!! drink 2 bud lites, then later drink 3 budwisers.. see the difference.

It has more water. That's all it really means.

The truth is that light beers usually use fillers to keep the calories and the weight of the beer down. The alcohol content usually stays the same (most domestics are around 4%). The only exceptions I can think of off the top of my head are Coors Light (4.2%) vs. Coors Original (5.0%) and Bud vs. Bud Light (the same respective numbers).

Corona (4.6%) is not too far from Corona Light (4.5%)

The reason they think that can drink more is because it's easier to drink watered down beer than filling beer. Tell them to try and match Guinness for Miller Lite and see who can drink more. They have a pretty close alcohol content.

Usually they contain slightly less alcohol by volume. For instance, Budweiser contains 5% where Bud Light contians 4.7 or 4.8%. In certian parts of my area there are places that sell even lower alcohol contents. There is an ordinance in the city where I attended college that only allows gas stations within a certain distance from a church to sell beer that contained 3.5% alcohol by volume. It was the same brand, less alcohol, and cost the same price. It was stupid.

the more sugar a beer has the more alcohol. so yes it has less alcohol.

I dont know about that but I do know that Natural Ice and Natural Light both have higher alcohol content than both those beers. So if you wanna get drunk faster, drink that stuff.

In America lite/light beer indicates less calories, alcohol content is the same. Lite/light beer have a tendency to taste less than the original because you remove some of the calorie containing flavors. Other countries light beer indicate less alcohol, so depending on where you are lite/light beer have the same alcohol content.

yes there is less alcohol in most light beers than in full flavored beers. I think bud is 5% and miller lite is like 4.2% so it's not that significant a difference but it still matters.

..

According to Swivel Bud has 5

Bud Light 4.2

But, just to let your friend know, how or why "they can
drink more" depends on many factors. Mainly
how many points his team is down, or how high
they got VH cranked up.

Cheers

No, "light" beers typically have less calories or carbs, but have the same amount of alcohol as a regualr beer made by the same manufacturer/brewer.
