What if you stop drinking wine everyday...?!

Question:

What if you stop drinking wine everyday...?

Say you have a couple glasses of wine everyday. If you just stopped one day would you have withdrawel symptoms or anxiety?

I try to have a couple glasses at the end of everyday if my anxiety is up or just because I feel I deserve it :)

Answers: Alcohol is a depressent, and a drug used as such.

Some medicines acutally use alcohol in helping the anxiety or tension. If you are using alcohol to relieve the stress, join the rest of the world.

If you are abusing it, you will have a withdrawl. A massive one, one that might put you in the hospital.

If you are having 2-3 glasses a day, you wont have a withdrawl on that. You will just have the feelings you have been supressing. Sometimes when I reflect back on all the wine I drink
I feel shamed. Then I look into the glass and think
about the workers in the vineyards and all of their hopes
and dreams If I didn't drink this wine, they might be out
of work and their dreams would be shattered. Then I say
to myself, "It is better that I drink this wine and let their
dreams come true than be selfish and worry about my liver."
~ Jack Handy It depends -- are your glasses gallon-sized or the typical three-ounce size? If you stop drinking wine every day you will lose weight. How is that for an answer? Why would you ask this question? If you think you are drinking too much wine; you ARE. "Withdrawel" is spelled withdrawal.
Maybe you need to quit altogether. try going without one night see what happens. As long as you don't switch to VODKA instead - then you'll be fine ;);) 2 glasses of wine a day for most people does not indicate a true chemical dependency. However, if for a long time you've been drinking out of habit as a way of relaxing and you don't find another outlet for stress, then you would possibly feel some anxiety and longing for a drink if you go without it for a few days. But the desire would go away after you abstain from it for a few weeks or so. It's very much the same with health nuts who are accustomed to working out in the gym every single day after work. If they go one day without a workout, they start feeling anxious and snippy. It's just a psychological thing. For instance, I had a problem with acid reflux disease about 6 months ago. I had to abstain from any kind of alcohol as well as any kind of spicy foods (including anything with tomatoes in it) for 3 months until it went away. Life seemed pretty dull for the first month not being able to eat any of my favorite foods (I'm particularly fond of Mexican and Italian) or have any of my favorite beers, but I had no problem giving any of it up when my health was at stake. A true alcoholic would run into more than just a little anxiety when he goes without his booze for any length of time. Many of them literally cannot stop drinking until they ruin their health and their lives, and alienate everybody around them.
