Why is it when I drank vodka for the first time I felt sick!?!

Question:

Why is it when I drank vodka for the first time I felt sick!?

I am in my mid 20's and don't drink! But I decided one time at a gathering to have a drink. I asked thebartender to give me something soft. She ended up giving me a glass half filled with vodka and the other half filled with a citrus/tropical juice. I finished the drink and not long after I felt dizzy, my entire body was sore (like I just got beat up), my neck especially hurted and felt like it was gonna snap, and my extremities felt weak. The following day i still felt the same and the third day? What the heck was in that drink? Do you think I have a low tolerance for Vodka in particular????

Answers: Thats a possibility, it could have been expired also. Mainly I think, you probably shouldnt have had vodka the 1st time around. You shouldve had something light like a cooler or spritzer. (ie- Bacardi Silver) Sorry you felt so bad... go lighter next time ok? because it is expired Thats possible !! but u shouldn't had started with a strong drink from the first time !!! Someone told me that the cheap vodka made them sick. Had to pay a little extra for the good stuff, but they didnt get sick from it. Half a glass? That's a lot--was the bartender drinking too? Your first drink was 1/2 a glass? That's a bit much. Should just have an ounce/30 mL. I mean it WAS vodka, a.k.a. hard liqour. And not on an empty stomach. Better yet, just don't start. you just shocked your system. I drink Vodka and Gin and Whiskey (mostly Irish whiskey) and tequila straight. It doesnt bother me. Of course I drink the better quality spirits so that helps. However, it took a year for me to be able to do that. I used to not like hard liquor straight. Now I prefer it straight.
