My common law wife went ballastic when I ordered a glass in front of her "type A" boss. All he said was, "Hey Doris, whatever floats your boat!" Funny thing is, my name is Ken.
Answers: Hey, at least you were drinking wine.....White Zinfandel to me is like a "starter" wine with traing wheels that helps you eventually learn to appreciate all other wines that are a bit more dry, both red and white. I had a boss that thought Mogen David was perfect with a fine steak....he called dry wines "old sour vinegar".
Be informed, that most even halfway serious wine drinkers (snobs) really look down on those who drink white Zinfandel.
Personally, I think you wife's boss showed incredibly bad manners by making his comment. Next time (if ever) order something else like a beer or a mixed drink. Oh yeah, tell your wife to get off your back... I don't get it - why not?

Obviously her "boss" isn't very comfortable with himself and feels a need to express his "manliness". Yes, it's perfectly exceptable for you to order White Zin. It's a glass of wine, not a dress. What would he have preferred you order...a Scotch on the rocks? That's old school. You've obviously broadened your horizons and developed your tastes beyond the stereotypes of "old school male society". Good for you! Keep ordering your Zin and let him make an as*hole out of himself. LOL!! Too funny. .. I think It is fine, but maybe not in front of him next time. Maybe try a chardonnay or a Riesling.... Go for it! I would care less what I ordered because of someone. White Zin is great with most foods. Who cares what they think. This is all up to you, and I guess the company that you are with. White Zin is often associated with Women drinkers and also a cheap drink. There are no real high dollar white zins. If you are with someone like "Type A boss" and care what he thinks then order something else. If you however don't care then order what you like and enjoy it. A REAL man can order whatever he wants. NOBODY should be drinking White Zinfandel. I DONT KNOW ANY REASON A MAN CANT DRINK white Zinfandel.I have been a bartender for about 12 years.I HAVE SOLD MANY A GLASSES OF IT TO GUYS. Sure, and I have. I think it's a nice complement to most meals, and I happen to like the taste. I don't order it regularly, but it's not bad by any means.
Are there better wines? Sure there are. But don't let anyone tell you you can't order a certain drink because of some ridiculous stereotype. White Zinfandel is indeed a feminine wine, and the chicks who *do* drink it, are typically prissy little princess types.

it's usually seen a starter wine or a "girly" wine. w/e, if it tasted good with whatever you ate, then that's all that matters. i hope, you enjoyed your white zinfandel ! life is to short, to eat & drink, or do stuff you don't care for, just to impress people, you don't even like.
