Alcohol and nerves ...?!

Question:

Alcohol and nerves ...?

Do you think it is a bad idea to drink a bit of alcohol to calm your nerves before a job interview or presentation? Of course not getting drunk ... most people know their limits. Do you think it is okay to have a shot of alcohol or a small glass of wine before hand to calm nerves?

I have seen several people reccomend this, and want to know what others think of it. Honest opinions please.

Answers: I think people who are nervous always overestimate the amount of alcohol that will "calm" them and end up drinking too much.

Lets face it, one drink will slow you down, and you want to look sharp - not sauced - and people will smell it anyhow, no matter how many breath mints you use....and no one wants to hire someone that is drinking during the day - its the same as asking for trouble.

Try some herb tea and deep breaths instead.

Been there, done that i wouldnt want to smell like liquor Don't drink to go to an inter view or you might as well don't bother cause they'er going to smell it,if you must drink 1 shot of Vodka brush your teeth and chew gum, have someone drive you obviously.Vodka is the easiest to hide. Forget the wine, especially if the interviewer is a woman (they tend to have a much more keen sense of smell than men do). You could try one shot of vodka, but no more than that.
