I have a bottle of Chateauneuf-Du-Pape from Chateau de Beaucastel. What's it worth?
It's a Beaucastel Blanc, 1992. The bottle says the wine will age for 10-20 years and it's been kept in a wine cellar under good conditions until recently when a friend cleaned out their cellar and gave me a few bottles. Another friend told me this bottle in particular is a very nice bottle of wine, but being unfamiliar with wine I thought I'd ask what it was worth. Anyone know, or feel like making an offer? in response to Joanne H, Beaucastel Blanc is a white wine. Thanks for the link. At the time of its release, Chateau de Beaucastel Chateauneuf-du-Pape Blanc (not to be confused with the red wine nor the Cotes du Rhone version) is rated by Wine Spectator to be 84 and retails for $32. The description was "A heady, full-bodied white, with pungent flavors of herb, apple, almond and tobacco. Soft and ripe in texture. Drink now." - written in 1994.
Other vintages, such as 1989, 2000, and 2001, had much better ratings and had higher prices.
A review online (http://www.cellartracker.com/wine.asp?iw... gave one (and only review I could find anywhere) rather favorable review.
As a result, if you can find someone who is a big fan of Chateaunuef-de-Pape, they may be willing to pay higher price, but my guess is no more than $50-60 for that bottle. Source(s):
