Whats the difference between irish and scottish whisky?!

Question:

Whats the difference between irish and scottish whisky?

Answers:
Irish whiskeys are triple distilled, whereas the only Scotch Whisky that is triple distilled is Auchentoshan (distilled at Erskine outside Glasgow). And that is really it.
Some prefer the stonger flavour of the Scotch whisky and others prefer the softer Irish. All I know is that there is enough to go round

Not a lot, whiskey is whisky just like rum is rum

Of course the marketing and advertising people will want to tell you different

.

The letter "e". One is whiskey. One is whisky.

Scottish whisky has much greater variety of flavour in my opinion depending where in Scotland it was distilled.

irish is made in ireland and scottish is made in scotland

Irish Whiskey is distilled twice, Scottish only once, Oh and they are spelt differently....there is an 'e' in the Irish one.

This is the right answer traditionally speaking Scottish whiskey is triple distilled and Irish double distilled while American is distilled once this is why American tastes sweeter then Irish then Scottish

The spelling of the two.irish whiskey is spelt with an e whilst scottish is spelt whisky

Scotch can only be called that if it comes out of Scotland Another example is champagne if it does not come out of the region champ age it's really just a sparkling wine. I hope that these examples helped.

the e

It's not really the drink
It's the race
Irish can hold their liquor
(God I hate Scotish)LOL

ones from ireland an the others from scottland lol to be honest dont think there is a difference

Wow....the flavor is very different.

I am not a fan of scotch. I prefer bourbon.
Irish whiskey is AWFUL.
Both are too pungent for me, but Irish is unpalatable.

About US$1 per drink at the bars.
In general, the choice of scotch whisky far exceed Irish whisky, and the premium scotch regularly sells for higher price than the irish counterparts, also by far.

The Irish is far superior, especially Bushmill's

One is made in Scotland, the other is made in Ireland.

Columbia, I think you need to get a life! That is a very ignorant, racist comment! The difference between Scottish and Irish whisk(e)y is how it is distilled. In Ireland it is normally distilled twice and in Scotland only once, but if you had half a brain you would know that!!

ones made in ireland and the other in scotland

Irish whiskey is distilled three times. Scottish whisky, or Scotch as Americans call it is distilled twice. Due to this tastes differ extremely. Irish whiskey being smoother.

There are probably the same amount of Scottish whisky and Irish whiskey, Scotch is just more popular in the states.
