Why does alcohol hit more if we mix drinks?!

Question:

Why does alcohol hit more if we mix drinks?

I mean that if I have some vodka and a peg of rum and another of whisky all in a single night, it hits much more than if I were having only one single type of drink that night?
Why is that?

Answers:
It is the mixer usually. Were you drinking these straight, or with something. The sweeter the mixer the worse the headache the next day. You may not have gotten drunker, you just feel worse for the drinking.

For instance if you drink rum and diet coke all night, and your friend has vodka and cranberry juice, and you weigh the same and drink the same amount, your friend will have a worse hangover, as they consumed more sugar in the mixer.

I think it's because if your body has to process ONE type of alcohol...it's easier. When your body has to process more than one type it takes longer.

Whatever man...no matter what you're gettin crunk.
