Will my liquor evaporate?!

Question:

Will my liquor evaporate?

I keep all of my spirits in a cool dark cabinet, but am wondering if some are at risk of evaporating. I am suspicious because three of my bottles have a type of cap that is a plastic top with a cork stopper that pushes into the neck (grey goose vodka and scotch). All my other stuff is screw cap.

Answers: Your liquor will be fine.
If the cork is solid, natural cork, there's a chance that it will dry out and the seal will be compromised which will lead to eventual evaporation. If that's the case, as long as you store it on its side so the cork doesn't dry out (like wine) then there's no danger. If the cork is a plastic/cork composite then drying out isn't really a danger. Screw caps will be fine indefinitely.
Even so, the drying out/evaporation would be over the course of many years, not just a few days or weeks or even months. well keeping them in a cool dark cabinet will help but its liquid so i'm sure that very little will evaporate> I think your okay, alcohol only evaporates in the sun. I store my scotch with the top of the bottom lower than the top and I have had none evaporate. I have had Schenley Reserve with a screw cap evaporate because it was stored where it had gotten hot and I believe that it forced the vapors out through the screw cap under pressure. I could see dark residue around the trhreads when I opened the bottle. Until then it still had the Tax Stamp seal in tact. It tends to evaporate fast if the bottle is not sealed. So if your bottle is sealed then the evaporation will be minimal.
