What was wrong with the red wine?!

Question:

What was wrong with the red wine?

my bf had a bottle of stowells italtian red wine and at the end of his last glass there was paper like stuff at the bottom of the glass and when checked in the bottle as well i have no idea what it was does any body know?

Answers:
Its not likely to be sediment as other people have suggested. Production wines are filtered through centrifuges adn will have no sediment in them.

and you say paper-like, if it was sediment you would probably have set bitty, or cloudy.

Its likely to be aeorbic reaction becasue the air cap wasn't pure or the cork ( or plastic these days ) was not completely sterilised.

This leaves a think white film, normally on the surface, it probably when down the bottle with the level and just emptied out in the last glass.

Its not really a problem, if you can't taste it, it's ok.

me: made my own wine for 20 years.

Probably just sediment.

try buckfast

Probably finnings and sediment. I do not like stowells wine as I think it has far too many chemicals. Buy a proper kosher Italian wine and one that suits your palate.

Try Odd Bins.

theres nothin wrong with it

its just that the bottle is empty

Sounds like mould.

It could happen in a bottle which was not properly corked.

don't worry about that. It mean that wine was standing for a long time, or perhaps something went wrong during the process of making wine...i wish you knew russian so i can explain it better!

it is just sediment, wont do you any harm the reason it looks like paper it is called finnings and that it how it collects. to be honest it is a bit unusual in a stowells bottle because they dont normally lay their wines down long enough for this to happen.

anyway stay off that stuff if you like red then tesco have a beautiful Merlot on offer at the moment very reasonable and not too pricey, under a fiver.

If you are into whites but dont like it too dry then try a Chenin Blanc very nice
