Have there been any studies on the effects of exercise on hangovers?


I was wondering if anyone's ever read a study on the effects of exercise on hangovers. I'm 31 now and a lot of my friends say they can't drink as much as they used too. They feel the effects worse the next day. I, on the other hand, have started to have less effects the next day while drinking the same amount. In fact, compared to the same time last year, I bounce back very quickly. The only thing that I'm doing different is I'm exercising a lot more than I was last year. I usually work out 4 times a week, though sometimes I'll do less, and rarely skip a week. I don't like to use anecdotes as evidence, so I'm looking for something more scientific.


Answers: If you exercise regularly, then the general boost it gives your metabolism should help your body deal with the toxins faster. But I wouldn't actually exercise during a hangover, considering you're headachey and dehydrated to begin with and all the sweating will just dry you out even more. The higher your metabolism the shorter ammount of time the hangover will last. You body will metabolize the alcohol faster if you are in good shape. Granted, hydration plays a huge factor as well. Sorry but anecdotal. A 5 mile run the next morning does wonders.. yes and it helps you get over the hangover more rapidly by stimulating the metabolic system and allowing the body to rid itself of the poisons which cause the hangover in the first place. physiologist, I play rugby, and I am 31. I am well versed with drinking, exercising, exercising after a night of drinking, exercise while drinking, you get the pic....... The healthier you are the better recovery you should have. Total solution for hangovers. a red pill called Chaser I pick it up at Walgreen's if you are from the USA. You will take this before you go out for the night the next day like nothing happened. Now, as per you exercising more, you are probably eating and your intake of fluid is also better. That combo would make you more resistant than the average Joe who doesn't do anything for his body. I know because is what my personal trainer told me. He is brilliant.
