Can someone give me a crash course in alcoholic drinks?!

Question:

Can someone give me a crash course in alcoholic drinks?

I seriously don't know much more than beer and liquor. What kind of drinks are there? Help! I'm a alcohol virgin.

Answers:
New drinkers tend to like vodka because it has no taste and you can mix it with anything. Rum is also popular in fruity drinks or coke. Whiskeys are more of an acquired taste, a much stronger and distinct flavor. I find people either love or hate tequila, it also has a pretty distinct taste though in a completely different way.

I'd recommend going to get mini bottles (50 ml, about a shot's worth) of a couple types of spirits at a liquor store or grocery store. They're maybe $3 each. Research some drinks that sound interesting and get some mixers. Then try a few sips of the liquors you got to see if you like the flavor and make a drink with it to see if that improves anything. It'll give you an idea of what vibes with you and what makes you nauseous without throwing down money on a whole bottle.

Here's a tip....if you find an alcoholic drink.....drink it.

Real men drink beer or whiskey......but when niether is present, drink whatever has alcoholic content

About the only way to learn is experiment - find out what YOU like. There are as many kinds of alcohol as there are fruits and veggies. Oh, and if you are a newby take it kinda slow until you learn your tolerances

I would say the majority of drinks are made from Bourbon, vodka, Gin, Rum and tequila and whiskey. I've been a bartender for over 20 years and I could tell you some drinks but men usually drink tequila or whiskey, mostly Jack Daniels straight but you can get away with a Jack and Coke. Becareful with either one of these they will mess you up! You can also drink Scotch and water but I find this stuff God awful.
