How do you heat up store bought sake at home?!

Question:

How do you heat up store bought sake at home?

I have a bottle I bought at Trader Joes and don't know how to heat it up.

Answers:
When making atsukan (hot sake) you need to remember two things.

The first is don't boil it. You destroy the flavour if you do.
Second is it shouldn't be too hot, in fact it should be slightly warmer than body temperature.

Now, you can get yourself a tokkuri (small porcelain sake bottle) and some sake cups if you like, but it's not necessary. It does add something to the experience but that's up to you. It does help however when making atsukan.

Fill the tokkuri up to the neck with sake. Take a pan of boiling water and place the tokkuri in it for a couple of minutes. If you want to use a microwave, wrap a little aluminium foil around the tokkuri and nuke it on high for about 15 seconds.

Pour into small cups and enjoy.

Microwave for 15 seconds....DO NOT LET IT BOIL....or you will boil off the alcohol....cheers mate!

Fill a bowl with really hot water and stand the saki bottle in the water. Or just nuke it!

I love sake! Its really good warm Just boil some water then stick the bottle in for about 10 min it should warm up good :) but i agree with the person above me dont boil it other wise the good part will get out of it :)

The stuff is typically served in a small porcelain bottle. Try 20 seconds in the microwave.

if you have a sake bottle, pour the sake into it and place that bottle into a boiling pot of water. microwaving it does not produce the same results.
