Guinness surfer advert?!

Question:

Guinness surfer advert?

I have to write a 1000 word essay about the Guinness surfer advert. Please give me ideas.

Answers: Ooh, I could write your essay for you - in fact I did one on deconstructing adverts at uni for my media course. However I'd like to just give you pointers. Look for the meanings, messages and imagery in the advert. Why has that voiceover been used? Why black and white? Why is there a massive hit of nostalgia - the surfers look like theyre from an earlier era? What do the horses represent? Think about the music and about when there is and isn't sound or narration.

How does it make you feel? Who are they selling it to? Does it sell the drink? Is there a comparison between what you're seeing and what they're selling? Why do Guinness make adverts that are better than the drink? In fact the Guinness name is far bigger than the drink. I don't like the drink but I look forward to a new advert from them and am likely to be googling it as soon as it's finished to find out who made it and why. One hint might be to look at what the advert's called - I know the devolution one (I call it Pleh! after the fish type form that makes that noise on tasting the water) is called noitulove - evolution backwards (and I was so slow on that!)

Most importantly though, is if you don't enjoy doing this task, say that and why. If you do like it, look into that. And make it your own work and thoughts - it's a fun project in my opinion, but that's my opinion! Source(s):

Just repeat that until you reach 1000 words
