Been sober 20 yrs now...?!

Question:

Been sober 20 yrs now...?

theres an unopened bottle of 18 year old burboun on the table what should i do?

Answers: Give it to your neighbour. I'm so proud of you! Depends WHY you've been sober for 20 years. If you just haven't got round to getting drunk then go for it, but if you used to be addicted, it may not be a good idea... Dont drink it!!
Sorry for my earlier negative remark!! I'll try to be more sympathetic next time sorry again!! Well done by the way!! Enjoy your life.... or open the bottle
You know regardless of answers, it's still your choice,
Trust yourself to make the right one! If you've been sober for 20 yrs now, then throw the bourbon out. You wouldn't want to start the habit again. Be sober. Get it out of the house! several things. Beat the crap out the idiot that got you hooked on liquor with it. Call some old A.A. buddies.Call a friend and talk it out, or hey come here, this place might can help too. Do you have kids? Think of them. What will it do to them if you pop that cork.? and your VERY SPECIAL LADY? What about her? and the rest of your family and friends? All these people love you VERY much and would not want to see you hurtin' yourself. and I KNOW you love them. So just don't do it
!!!!!!!! Go to these people if you got to. They aint gonna care if you wake 'em up at 2 or 3 or 4 or 1 in the morn'. Your family and friends love you and will want to help in any way possible to help you not screw up what you have accomplished with stayin' sober for 20 yrs. I know you had to have gone through alot and done alot to have been off the bottle for that long. I know it wasn't easy either. Remember the struggles. Those struggles will remind of what it took to get to where you are now at.

Most important, toss it out. Its not worth loosing all the time you've put into staying sober. By the way congrats on being sober for 20 yrs. I know that had to have been a long road to where you're now at. Bet the struggle was worth it too. Just don't do it. Think about all that you've done to get where you are now at. Think about what you've got. Cause you might not have got if you hadn't gotten sober 20 yrs. ago. Did you use A.A? Remember the things you did there? How about the serenity prayer. It goes something like this:
God help me to change the things I can and accept the things I can't. Sorry it's not all there. I know that it's a very important prayer in A.A.

HEY DUDE: REMEMBER, you've come a LONG WAY and you want to keep goin'. So just give that bottle away to somebody, even if it means wakin' 'em up. They KNOW you. They will understand.
and GOOD LUCK!!!!! YOU CAN DO IT!!!!!!!!! Let me answer your question with a question. Is it worth going back to where you were to open it? pour it in the john its poison assuming you are talking about the AA kind of sober, my advice would be to leave the bottle unopened. give it away. who put it on the table in the first place ? being sober for 20 years is not something to celebrate with a drink, but that's just my opinion. catch a meeting, call your sponsor, or a fellow alcoholic to do a 10 step. you've come so far, don't forget where you started from. i've only got 10 years, but i know, i can't afford to slack on the program. i work in the restaurant business, alcohol is all around me, i serve drinks, open wine, pour martinis, etc. temptation is all around us 24/7, but we have to keep spiritually fit. good luck, friend ! throw it out or give it away. I am hooked on the stuff now and hate that I cant sleep without at least 2 drinks b4 bed and my father stayed sober for 16 yrs and when him and his 2nd wife divorced he bought himself a bottle of vodka for the night their divorce was final and that was almost 2yrs ago and has been drinking every day since that night so if you've had the will power to leave it alone dont risk picking it up for even one drink or you risk losing your life again!!
