1st of all, I don't live in CA, sorry. But, I think you can search from google bartending school in CA.

I myself don't have any school, but since I have a bar, I learn how to mix drinks ( actually,my degree was from tours & travel management ).

I've been bartending for more than 1 year. People tip me very well, especially when it's weekend.

My intention is not making money, but I wanna get closer and be friendly to my customers, that's why I jump behind the bar and try to know them better, what their names, what their fave drinks and what they expect from us.

PS: owner of Club Evolution, Cincinnati,OH
can't help you on the school but honestly you don't have to go to school, if you can find a bar that is willing to work with you, you'll learn more on the job anyway I went to bartending school in 99 and I've never used 90% of what i learned there...

the best money from bartending is in the following places: strip clubs, 5 star restaurants/bars, and packed high ticket night clubs...

but the money tends to be decent no matter where you are generally you can expecct to average 100$ per shift or so.
Bar tending school is a waste of time. I have never meet a bartender who went to one. I didn't and I'm a bartender (of 5 years). A friend of mine did and never got a job bar tending until she was promoted years later from waitress. At the school they use colored and water not alcohol. So how do you know if the drink tastes right? The best way to get started is learn your basic drinks, and hopefully you'll find a place willing to train you. Or lie and say you have experience. That's how I got started. I played it off really well that I knew what I was doing. I ended up working there for two years and they still refer to me as their best bartender. As far as tips it varies on the place. Ive worked nights for twenty bucks, and I've walked out with five hundred before. It's the bar, the location, and the customers. Good Luck. you'll have a blast.
