Depends on: the wine, the amount left and the temperature.

The process is that the alcohol is oxidised to vinegar. The more air - the more oxygen. The higher the temperature - the more rapid the reaction.

To test if it's been in too long - have a quick taste. If it's gross then spit it out.

Best wine saver I've ever known is a Vacuvin. It uses a rubber cork and a suction pump to remove a lot of the air.
Leftover wine?? Never heard of it....

Probably not more than a week...
With the cork in it, I think anything within 2 weeks would be fine. More than that, I'd probably think twice before drinking it.
It depends what you mean by life.

Once opened, white wine quickly deteriorates. It doesn't become poisonous, but it tastes stale after about half an hour. Keep it, by all means, but use it for cooking.

A full bodied red wine, on the other hand, improves if you let the air get to it. If you are in the habit of leaving the bottle unfinished - drink red.
I wouldn't leave it in fridge it doesn't do it any favours. I would just tip it down the sink or use it for cooking as it never tastes as nice. But if you really want to keep it, 3 days max.
Never any left in my house, but if you seal it well should keep for a couple of days.
you can preserve it very well with a Vac-U-Vin device available from Tesco or similar outlets. It's a system of a rubber bung with a slit in the top and a hand operated pump that sucks the air out to keep the wine fresh.
Don`t leave wine once opened ,it`s at it`s best then after that it just deteriates.
2 days maximum before it turns to vinegar. 2 weeks? You lot obviously aren't wine drinkers!
Agree it is a very rare thing to have left over wine but there is always an occasion when you open it late at night just for that one last glass! I always keep it in fridge as I like it cold and certainly it is still drinkable after a day or two. I suppose it could depend on whether it is a 'good' wine - although I really rate some of the cheaper ones.
pour it into your ice cube tray, freeze it and use cubes for soups, stews and casseroles
