What makes a better margarita dark or clear tequila?!

Question:

What makes a better margarita dark or clear tequila?

Should i use dark or clear tequila when making a margarita? Why?

Answers:
dark is aged, and the longer a tequila is aged, the darker it gets. It usually gets more expensive the longer it is aged (although some poor brands add color to make it look darker).

Start with 100% agave tequila always! You don't need the crap they put in the cheap stuff.

Then you have 3 choices - blanco (not aged at all and pretty much clear), reposado (slightly aged) and anejo (heavily aged).

Most anejos would be a waste (albeit a great tasting waste) in a margarita, especially the way most restaurants make them, so generally speaking, go for a reposado which will have some color.

The best margarita in the world is just 2oz 100% agave tequila, about 1 lime's worth of juice (avoid stuff like Rose's Lime Juice like the plague) and a splash of bar syrup or better yet, agave nectar mixed with water.

clear, some people are sensitive to brown liquors and it makes them sick faster/easier

Go with clear tequila, better flavor. Try Patron Silver or Herradura Silver...

Margaritas are good but have you ever tried a mexican martini??

2 ounces tequila (the best you can afford)
1 ounce Grand Marnier
1 ounce orange juice
1/2 lime, juice of
3 teaspoons Sprite
3 teaspoons olive juice
sweet and sour cocktail mix
3 green pimento-stuffed olives, for garnish

1. Pour first six ingredients into a shaker with ice.
2. Fill shaker with Sweet & Sour.
3. Shake well to mix and chill.
4. Pour into glass and garnish with olives.

It depends on what tequila you are using...don't worry so much about color and more on quality which can get expensive.

ALthough here are a couple decent recipes that will result in fabuloud Margaritas.
3 parts Cuervo Gold
1 part Gran Marnier
1 part Roses Lime Juice
Fill with Sour

or

3 parts Patron Silver (pricey..could use Sauza instead)
1 Part Cointreau
1 part Roses Lime juice
Fill with sour

or (and one of my favorites)
3 Parts Sauza
1 part Blue Curacao
1 part Triple Sec
1 Part roses Lime
fill with Sour and a splash of OJ

of course you may modify for personal taste

I prefer blanco for margaritas, something like Casa Noble Crystal or Tesoro Blanco
