Any recipes for a unique martini?!

Question: I'm trying to get in to martinis but find a straight vodka martini to be a little strong. Any ideas of what to add to make it a little less strong but not too fruity - I still want it to be a martini, not some crazy fruiti creation that has no resemblance to a martini. Help?

Use very good vodka... the best vodkas do not taste strong. Be prepared to spend... they are expensive.

Try flavored vodkas - they use a cheaper base, but the flavor can make it seem smoother.

Try a gin martini... vodka martinis will taste like water after one made with gin

Have you tried using godiva chocolate liqueur instead of vermouth?

Have you tried sweet vermouth instead of dry? Try using half sweet, half dry.

Try this website....there are tons of different recipes. I personally love a good dirty martini (made with olive juice)
Cosmos are pretty sweet and fruity.
I like a straight up vodka martini with a fresh peice of rosemary in it for garnish, lovely aroma. Or dirty martini (a bit of the olive juice).
You could always shake the martini to increase the amount of water if you find it too strong (Bond, shaken, not stirred- freaking watered down martini if you ask me).
And I agree that the better the quality of the vodka, the less strong it will taste- try Grey Goose or Absolute.
A gimlet is pretty good. It's vodka and roses lime juice. Or do like a pomegranite flavored vodka straight up, it helps make it smoother, more palateable
Been a big fan of Sake martini's lately.

1-2 teaspoons of Sake (chilled)

2 ounces of nice Vodka (chilled)

Cucumber slice
