How do I start selling my homebrew?!

Question:

How do I start selling my homebrew?

I make my own beer and need a place to get started in selling it.

Answers:
You need a federal liquor license for that (making to sell), plus a business license, plus another federal liquor license to wholesale or retail it. Check the federal alcohol, tobacco, firearms bureau and maybe see a "mini brewery" cafe that makes it's own brand to sell in the cafe. As long as you make it for your own use, you don't usually need a license to make and consume up to 50 gallons a year. Just don't try selling that, though, as it is still known as bootleg hooch. Good luck.

Can't be done.

Brewpubs are about the smallest facilities allowed.

Start at you state liquor control office.

Check with your local state laws to make sure you comply, but the best way to get started is contacting local microbrews to supply them with small batches as "specials". Also, try local supermarkets or grocery stores that sell alcohol as they may be more willing to carry "local" brands with better shelf space. Good luck!

be discreet and sell it to your close friends. its illegal you dont want Customs and Excise on your back.

It's illegal to sell homebrewed beer. The easiest legal way to sell it is to contract brew it at a brewery.

Keep in mind that you'll need a lot of money to get started, due to licensing and fees. And you have to pay all taxes as soon as you brew it.
