How to start importing wine?
what state and federal organizations can i call to to inquire about importing wine from italy to new york state . what fees are there . can i be the importer and use a distributer or wholesaler to help me .. can i do the same thing with olive oil. my family owns grape and olive farms or whatever you call it ....... in sicily , and they keep asking me to import there products . what is the easiest and most cost efficient way to do this .

Go the the Wine Institutes web page. They have information on the legal requirements for each state.
This is not something you can "break into."
Importation and distribution are highly regulated.
If you are young and restless, go to Davis California and attend the University there.
If you are an entrepreneur looking to try the spirits business, start at the retail end and work your way toward the supply side.
If you are a retiree, grow some grapes, or look for an old, abandoned vineyard. There were hundreds started in the late 1800's that are just patches of wild vines now.
