Why do I get so tired when I drink?!

Question: When drinking rum, I get very tired within an hour, nearly impossible to stay awake. Are there any tricks to keeping yourself up and actually enjoy one's drunken state?

Because alcohol is a depressant, not a stimulant.
I don't recommend mixing depressant with stimulant--that is a good way to find yourself in the emergency room because your heart and other systems will be competing with each other and confused about whether to slow down or speed up and that's not good.
I suggest you slow down and don't drink so much so fast.
Or, why not try being the designated driver and just sit back and enjoy everyone else's drunken state--it can be quite amusing!
Haha. I guess drink something else.
no...alcohol is a depressant.
Alcohol is a depressant. Also, you might want to slow down & enjoy it instead of pounding!
You may not want to. There are so many times i wish i had just fallen asleep...
Get more rest. Alcohol is a depressant, if you start tired, it'll increase the effects of being tired already.
it messes with your melatonin which helps u sleep
well, alcohol is a depressant, and slows down ur body functions. can either try not drinking, or take drugs that are stimulants, caffeine being the most notable, and most legal. or u can eat a bunch before u start drinking, going in on a full stomach slows the metablosiing rate, so u get less of the alcohol in ur system, and over a longer period
Alcohol is a depressant...
It's going to make you sleepy. The only way to not get so tired is to pace yourself. You're probably taking in more than you can handle in a great big hurry. Rum is sipping liquor.
alcohol is a depressant; depressed people are always sleepy
well it appears ur out of shape and even the job of lifting a cup to you mouth is too much. lol
Drink a can of Red Bull or another type of energy drink,,, thats what I do!! and have a few sips between alcoholic drinks!!
try beer.
Try to start drinking when you first wake-up in the MORNING,not in the evening, when your tired. Or try chasing the RUM with REDBULL in the evening's
as you take alchol your physical state became sleepy, you have to just drink lightly, take 2 glasses maximum and pour ice cubes in it,and also some little water also.
Because liquor is a depressant, it naturally makes you tired. Drink something a little less strong or don't drink so much so fast.

You can try drinking an energy drink with it, vodka and red bull are very popular these days, but the problem is that you won't really feel the effects of being drunk as much. You'll feel a lot less drunk then you actually are. Its not a good idea.
The problem is your a lightweight, Try pounding down beer instead....
You are working to hard at it. Relax/.
